Il Rally di Finlandia ha regalato molte sorprese e ha reso ancora più emozionante il WRC 2017: il finlandese Esapekka Lappi (Toyota Yaris) ha ottenuto il primo successo in carriera nel Mondiale mentre il connazionale (nonché compagno di squadra) Juho Hänninen (3°) ha portato a casa il primo podio iridato.
