Il successo di Lewis Hamilton nel GP degli USA a Austin ha regalato alla Mercedes il Mondiale F1 2017 Costruttori e ha avvicinato ancora di più al titolo iridato il pilota britannico.
La Ferrari ha portato due monoposto sul podio (2° Sebastian Vettel e 3° Kimi Räikkönen) ma va detto che la terza piazza del driver finlandese è arrivata solo in seguito alla penalizzazione inflitta a Max Verstappen. L’olandese della Red Bull ha terminato la corsa davanti ad Iceman ma è stato retrocesso in quarta posizione per aver tagliato troppo la curva in occasione del fantastico sorpasso effettuato nel finale proprio ai danni di Kimi. Una punizione a nostro avviso troppo severa nei confronti di una manovra adottata da molti altri piloti nel corso del weekend.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes)
Pole position, vittoria e miglior tempo in tutte le sessioni di prove libere: Lewis Hamilton ha dominato il GP degli USA conquistando a Austin il quinto successo in sei edizioni della corsa texana. Ora il Mondiale F1 2017 è ad un passo: basterà un piazzamento nelle prime cinque posizioni in Messico per festeggiare già domenica prossima…
Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari)
Il secondo posto nel GP degli USA è un segnale incoraggiante per Sebastian Vettel (che non saliva sul podio da Monza): una gara concreta e un intero weekend basato sulla sostanza e sulla costanza. Questo non basterà, però, per portare il campionato a Maranello: troppi gli errori commessi dai piloti e dal team nel corso della stagione.
Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes)
Il GP degli USA di Valtteri Bottas è simile a tutti gli ultimi Gran Premi disputati dal driver finlandese. Non brilla più come un tempo ma stiamo pur sempre parlando di un pilota che nonostante i “momenti no” è stato capace di chiudere in “top 5” le ultime dodici gare corse. Max Verstappen (Red Bull)
Max Verstappen è stato penalizzato due volte nel corso del weekend del GP degli USA. La prima, sabato a causa della sostituzione di alcuni elementi della power unit della sua Red Bull, lo ha costretto a scattare dalla 16° posizione. La seconda, a fine gara, gli ha tolto il podio (da 3° a 4° dopo un’eccezionale rimonta) per aver tagliato una curva nel finale durante uno strepitoso sorpasso ai danni di Räikkönen. Quarto Mondiale F1 consecutivo per la Mercedes: un successo meritato ottenuto con tre gare di anticipo che ha portato la scuderia tedesca al quinto posto tra i team più vincenti della storia (eguagliata la Red Bull).
